Richard Osman is one of the celebrity experts on Michael McIntyre's hit game show on BBC One this evening. The 53-year-old is known for his work as a presenter, novelist and comedian. His best-selling Thursday Murder Club novels are currently being made into a film for Netflix, starring some huge names.
Richard is also the creator and former co-presenter of Pointless. Hailing from Billericay in Essex, he has previously opened up about how when he was nine years old, his father walked out on the family. He revealed it caused challenges for himself and his mother for the rest of their lives.
“It was the worst thing that ever happened to me,” he said. “He just left and I didn’t see him again for 20 years – that’s hard." He added: “It derails you and it takes a long time to get back on track.
It takes you a lot longer to mature and find yourself." Richard finally met up with his dad 20 years after he walked out, but admitted he did not feel much of a bond. “I’m thankful I have the relationship I now have with my dad. He’s a perfectly nice fella – I think he.
