Rhoda Louise Viker, 82, of Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Eventide in Moorhead. Rhoda was born January 3, 1942, in Moorhead, MN, to Rudolph “Rudy” and Cordula (Horn) Messner, and was baptized February 1, 1942, at Georgetown Lutheran Church. Rhoda graduated from high school in Moorhead, and then graduated from Moorhead State College.

On March 24, 1961, she married (John) David Viker, they first lived at Halstad, MN. Later they moved to Georgetown and started farming with Rudy before beginning to farm on their own. They raised their family and farmed in Georgetown until 2001 when they retired and moved to Moorhead.



Rhoda enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her beautiful lawn and extensive flower gardens. She also enjoyed time spent with her Homemakers, LWML, and bible class friends, whom continued to be an important part of her life. Rhoda is preceded in death by husband David, her parents, sister Elinor Johnson, and grandson, Justin Viker.

She is survived by her sister, Gloria (David) Lee; son, Russel (Lynne) Viker, Stillwater, MN; daughters, Sara (Terry) Althoff, Apple Valley, MN, and Ginger (Mark) Harris, Georgetown, MN; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND, with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
