A LOT has happened throughout 2024 and the Leader has been there to cover it all. We're looking back at some of the stories which made our front pages each month. September began with a front page on a popular pub closing down suddenly.

The Bridge Inn in Chirk announced with a 'heavy heart' that it was closing immediately, much to the disappointment of its regular customers. It reopened later the same month under a new management team. That was also the month that a gun raid was caught on camera in the Wrexham area.



Corey Li, from Rhostyllen, was jailed following a robbery which took place at the Esso Garage in the same village. He had produced an imitation firearm during the incident and was jailed for three years and nine months. In another court case, a Wrexham man was jailed for punching his then-girlfriend in the head because of the crispiness of the chicken she had cooked for him.

Paul Griffiths received an 18-month sentence for the incident. Leader front page September 2024. (Image: NQ) Later on in the month of September, roads in Wrexham were compared to 'Wacky Races' following claims that people were speeding at up to 70mph in the city centre.

There was also anger as Dant Y Coed dental practice in Coedpoeth handed back their NHS contract due to it being 'unworkable'. The month ended in a very sad fashion as tributes were paid to 9-year-old Freddie Pritchard, who sadly died while he was on his way home from holiday.
