Summary While the destinations have been disclosed before, they are in the Americas, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. Strangely, one of the places already has Turkish Airlines flights, so it is excluded. Santiago de Chile is expected to see the carrier in December 2024.

Turkish Airlines details its destination wishlist once or twice yearly. Its latest version was part of its Q2 2024 earnings presentation and is worth recapping. As always, any new route is subject to commercial realities, traffic rights, aircraft availability, slots, and more, and there is no indication of a timeframe.

Moreover, places not mentioned may also materialize. As the wishlist may change, with destinations added and cut, it is best treated as a snapshot. One place already sees the carrier The bottom right section of the slide below summarizes the carrier's route network intentions.

Turkish Airlines flights to Mitiga , serving the Libyan capital of Tripoli, started in April 2024. Tripoli International, the capital's main airport, was damaged during the civil war and is no longer used. Turkish Airlines last flew to Tripoli in 2014.

It is unclear why the latest wishlist includes the place, but the airline does this occasionally. For example, Osaka Kansai was mentioned in the September 2023 version, even though flights to the Japanese airport were officially set to return in December. While 26 destinations are listed, I have only referred to the 25 not served.

Notice that destinations include the Turkish cities of Bayburt and Yozgat , in the east of the country, with the airports to serve them still under construction. Only Orlando in North America, a fast-growing market for Turkish Airlines , is mentioned on that continent. Then there's Santiago de Chile , one of four anticipated destinations in the Americas.

In late July 2024, Turkish Airlines mentioned it in the public disclosure area of its investor relations website, a precursor to being served. While Santiago has not been officially announced, a four-times-weekly Airbus A350-900 operation via São Paulo is expected to begin in December. It will be the carrier's second-longest passenger service after Melbourne.

Turkish Airlines has stated that Sydney may join its Australian network in the coming northern winter. However, it has been said publicly (which might be different from what has been mentioned internally) that it may decide to increase frequencies to Melbourne instead. Its first flights to Victoria's capital took off in March 2024 and are operated three times weekly via Singapore.

It no longer plans to fly to...

It is worth looking back over the past few years to see which destinations were on the wishlist but then removed: A Coruña (close to Santiago de Compostela, which Turkish Airlines served between May 2013 and June 2016. A Coruña does not even have flights to most major European hubs, such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London Heathrow (Vueling serves Gatwick), Munich, or Paris CDG) Lankaran (Azerbaijan's fourth most populous city) Makhachkala (Russia) Aktobe (Kazakhstan) Penang (Malaysia) Sialkot (Pakistan).
