Saturday, August 17, 2024 Resorts World Cruises debuts a new Melaka route with extended port stays, featuring Fan Bingbing as the ‘Visit Melaka 2024’ ambassador, boosting global tourism appeal. Resorts World Cruises is excited to reveal that starting from 10 November 2024, the Genting Dream will embark on 2 Night Cruises every Sunday from Singapore, making the historic Melaka port the primary access point to Kuala Lumpur. Recognized as ‘the cruise line that knows Asia best’, this route offers an innovative journey with two stops at both Melaka and Kuala Lumpur, allowing travelers an extended 12-hour port stay—two hours more than previously allotted.

This enhancement affords guests sufficient time to explore the quaint city of Melaka before rejoining the ship. Positioned near the city of Melaka, the Genting Dream provides picturesque views of the coastal landscape and beaches. Guests disembarking will experience a distinctive tender boat journey along the Melaka River to the state-of-the-art Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) Complex.

A brief 15-minute stroll from this complex leads to Melaka’s core, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its Dutch Square’s red colonial architecture and the vibrant Jonker Street, renowned for its shopping, culinary delights, and entertainment options. Additionally, visitors can take river boats adjacent to the ICQS Complex to tour this ancient port city, adorned with architecture reflecting Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences, alongside stunning murals, green spaces, and colorful riverside shops. Every other Monday, travelers also have the option to start their cruise from Melaka at the ICQS Complex, integrating a stay in Melaka with the One-Way 3 Night Melaka-Singapore-Penang-Kuala Lumpur Cruise via Port Klang.

“Resorts World Cruises is delighted to add Melaka as one of our latest destinations and homeports, which will further contribute towards the success of the state’s ‘Visit Melaka 2024’ campaign and the development of the cruise tourism sector in Melaka. With a total of 52 calls a year, the Genting Dream will bring up to 200,000 passengers to Melaka annually”, said Mr. Michael Goh, President of Resorts World Cruises .

“The Melaka state government is pleased to welcome the collaboration with Resorts World Cruises through its cruise ship, Genting Dream, which has chosen Melaka as its new destination. With an average of 200,000 passengers per year, this will contribute to the increase in tourist numbers during Visit Melaka 2024, thus boosting the economic growth of Melaka. I hope that, with this new attraction, Melaka will become the top-of-mind and preferred tourist destination,” said Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, the Chief Minister of Melaka .

Melaka’s status as a prime tourist destination in Malaysia is receiving further boost with the selection of celebrated Chinese actress Fan Bingbing as the ‘Visit Melaka Year 2024’ ambassador. This high-profile endorsement is attracting significant attention from tourists across China and globally. Now, visitors can opt for the serene journey of a cruise from Singapore to Melaka, avoiding the conventional road trip.

Melaka is a treasure trove of cultural diversity and historical richness, offering a plethora of ancient landmarks, historical edifices, family-friendly attractions, and delectable cuisine. Culinary adventurers can indulge in Melaka’s famous chicken rice balls, durian cendol, and traditional snacks like pineapple tarts at renowned local diners. Noteworthy attractions in the city include the historical A’Famosa Fort, St.

Paul Church, Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum, Cheng Ho Cultural Museum, and the ancient water well built for Ming Princess Hang Li Poh in the 15th century. Further, passengers disembarking in Melaka can travel to Kuala Lumpur, a vibrant cultural melting pot, within a few hours. Kuala Lumpur combines modern and historical architecture, natural landscapes, and rich traditions.

Highlights include the KLCC twin towers, the new TRX Exchange lifestyle area, the historic Batu Caves with its stunning Hindu temple, and the bustling Central Market—a center for Malaysian arts and crafts. A visit to Kuala Lumpur is incomplete without sampling the diverse street food that showcases the city’s multi-ethnic community. In Melaka, a riverboat tour offers a picturesque view of the unique architecture lining the riverbank.

Meanwhile, aboard the Genting Dream, guests are treated to a wealth of amenities included in their cruise package. This includes complimentary international and Asian dining options, with a dedicated Halal section for Muslim travelers in The Lido restaurant, which also serves vegetarian and Jain options. The ship is equipped with prayer rooms, catering to the needs of Muslim guests.

The Genting Dream also features a 1,000-seat Zodiac theatre for international performances, a sea-based water park with pools and slides, rope courses, ziplines, a rock-climbing wall, spas, duty-free shopping, and more, ensuring a memorable experience for all family members..
