Several flood alerts have been issued across the county as heavy rain is expected. The Environment Agency has issued 19 flood alerts across Sussex, with flooding expected near Hailsham on the Cuckmere and Bull Rivers. Residents in Hellingly and Horsebridge have been warned to “act now” due to the rivers being “high and rising”.
Some roads may become impassable due to flooding in the area, including Mill Road and Church Road. A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “5mm of rain has been recorded at Cowbeech Saturday evening and Sunday morning. “Another 5mm of rain is predicted before midday on Sunday.

” Those in the affected area should move your loved ones, pets and valuables to a safe place, move to higher ground or the upper floor of a building, turn off the gas, electricity and water in your home if it’s safe, put flood protection equipment in place, do as the emergency services tell you and help others if it’s safe to do so. Flooding is possible in 18 other areas, which are: Climping Seafront, Lavant Stream.
