Halliwell residents were “scared for their life” as yobs were heard setting off fireworks “in any direction” late Saturday night. Fireworks could be heard being “let off ” near Brownlow Way and Tennyson Street from 11pm on Saturday (October 6). Halliwell resident Julie, 28, who did not want to give her surname, said people were “pointing the fireworks in any direction they felt like.
” She said: “I saw them lighting the fireworks with one hand and filming themselves with the other. “And then they ran off." Julie said she saw two men walking in the area and setting them off.
She said: “You could hear them in the area on and off from 11pm to 2.30pm. "They sounded like rockets and screamers.
"At 2am, I thought it had gone quiet and was getting ready for bed. "There was a loud bang. "My entire window turned bright.
“It felt like I saw every single spark. “The two men had shot fireworks off in the direction of the trees right outside my window. “They looked to be adults in their 20s or 30s.
” Julie said she slept for “about four hours” that night. She said: “They were setting off fireworks for over three hours. “It only stopped at about 2.
30am. “I was scared for my life. “Another could be shot at my window at any point and break it.
“Or land in a nearby tree and set it on fire. “I struggle with sleep as it is and get bad panic attacks. “I had several that night.
