Vadodara: Medical services were severely hampered at SSG Hospital , the biggest govt hospital in Central Gujarat, on Friday as resident doctors and interns joined the nationwide strike demanding justice for the woman doctor assaulted and murdered at RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal. Over 400 doctors joined the strike, abstaining from all non-emergency services, including OPD and ward services. The doctors also demanded installation of CCTV cameras in every ward and near operation theatres.

While the agitating doctors have decided to continue emergency and ICU services, they have announced the suspension of other services. On Friday, 49 minor and major planned surgeries were postponed. Hospital authorities said since all resident doctors and interns have gone on strike, tutors and senior doctors are managing the show.



“A large part of the workforce has gone on strike.
