Croatian authorities said 'a young Brit' from the Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas ship went missing in the early hours of Friday - but they haven't been seen since. Several ships have been taking part in the search after an alarm was raised on the luxury vessel which can carry 3,286 passengers.

One passenger on the cruise ship, Nicole Bullock, described how she woke up to an emergency message blaring through the ship. She wrote online: 'Woken up on the cruise ship around 3.40am to the emergency message '"Oscar Oscar Oscar off the port side".

A search and rescue operation is being carried out on the tiny uninhabited volcanic island of Jabuka.

The ship tracking website VesselFinder showed the 138,000-ton ship appearing to sail in circles as it searched for the missing Brit. The ship was reportedly on a seven-day Greece-Croatia route which departed on Saturday, August 3. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office told The Mirror it is aware of reports of a person overboard and it is in touch with a cruise company.

It is unclear at this stage how old the missing tourist is or if they are a man or a woman. MailOnline has contacted Royal Caribbean for comment.
