The Souderton and Central Bucks West football teams both look to bounce back from tough defeats against rivals last week while North Penn goes on the road looking to maintain its top spot in the District 1-6A rankings. Souderton appeared set on running away with last Friday’s 309 Bowl against Quakertown as the Indians built a 28-0 lead in the fourth quarter. But the host Panthers fought their way back and completed a remarkable comeback victory when quarterback Brady Martin connected with Matt Thomas for a 10-yard touchdown pass on the final play for a 35-34 win.

Instead of a third straight win after a 0-2 start, Souderton instead are 2-3 and 1-1 in the SOL American Conference heading into Friday night’s visit to Cheltenham at 7 p.m. The Indians sit 19th in the District 1-6A standings and are behind Quakertown and Upper Dublin – both 2-0 – in the conference race.

Cheltenham (1-4 1-1), which switched over to the Continental from the SOL American this season, earned its first victory last Friday by besting host Bensalem 31-14. Quakertown, which began 0-3 and is 17th in the District 1-6A rankings, tries to keep pace with UD at the top of the conference when it visits 1-4 Council Rock North. Upper Dublin – eighth in District 1-5A – is at Truman Friday and is aiming for a third straight win.

Central Bucks West almost handed Central Bucks South its first loss last Friday as the visiting Bucks took a 17-16 lead in the game’s final minute on Ryan Clemens’ nine-yard to.
