Nancy Louise (Mack) Gabianelli peacefully left this world on Wednesday, Oct. 16. She transitioned by saying, “Goodbye .
.. for now.
” Nancy was an artist. That translated into everything she created from paintings, photography and sculpture to the meals she served, the gardens she tended and the family she raised. She loved family, color, space, cows and the beauty of the natural world.
She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Nov. 5, 1933. She was raised in Saginaw, where she attended Arthur Hill High School.
She graduated from Michigan State University and went on to receive her master’s degree in art at the University of Michigan. It was in Ann Arbor that she met the love of her life, Eugene (Gene) Gabianelli. Their union lasted 64 years.
They were an amazing example of love and adventure. They began their life together in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1958.
It is there that they raised three children: Eugene (Gino), Nina and David Gabianelli. Nancy cared for the family with home cooked meals, complete with wheat germ cookies in the 1970s, much to their chagrin. All the while, she continued with her artwork both through teaching and creating in her own studio for decades.
Her work was displayed in galleries and commercial spaces across the Midwest. Nancy moved to Colorado two years ago to live with her daughter Nina. Her wish for her 90th year was to see the U.
S. National Parks. She and Nina enjoyed several road trips.
