Not even the rain could dampen the spirits at Reggae Sumfest's annual Family Fun Day on Sunday. A staple on the festival's calendar, the event drew hundreds to the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay, St James. Despite persistent showers, attendees braved the weather to support the curtain-raiser for the festival.

The event featured interactive booths, DJ Collision's turntable magic, and Trippple X's on-stage antics. There were prizes galore, as sponsors stocked their booths with essential back-to-school items and other goodies. Both parents and children indulged freely, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The Hospiten booth, offering free medical and dental check-ups, was a crowd favourite. Leeann Dunkley, coordinator of sustainability at Downsound Entertainment/Reggae Sumfest, explained that family is at the core of everything Reggae Sumfest stands for and that the festival prides itself on creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all ages. "This year's Family Fun Day had an incredible turnout, and it was wonderful to see both parents and children enjoying themselves.

The kids were laughing and playing, while parents relaxed and soaked up the festive atmosphere. Events like this are what Reggae Sumfest is all about - bringing people together, fostering a sense of community, and celebrating the joy of family. Seeing so many happy faces reinforces our commitment to making every Sumfest event a memorable experience for everyone involved," said Dunkley.

Tropics, a subsidiary of Pepsi-Cola Jamaica, also expressed its excitement about partnering with Reggae Sumfest. Karonna Atkins, the brand coordinator, shared that their brand's emphasis on children and community made this partnership a perfect match. "We are honoured to be the title sponsors for the Family Fun Day, which kicks off the events for the week.

It sets a tone for the rest of things to come. We brought back Laa Lee as the performer this year because he fits everything we are as a brand, an entertainer who brings energy," she said. Laa Lee, with his dynamic repertoire of dance hits, truly captivated the crowd and ended the day on a high note.

His energetic performance included popular tracks like Watz On Sale , Bird , Dirt Bounce , and Bong Bing, which had the audience cheering, dancing, and fully engaged. The lively atmosphere he created was the perfect culmination of a day brimming with excitement, delicious food, and joyful activities..
