T he Bahamas AIDS Foundation introduced its new president, Arame Strachan, and celebrated its outgoing president, Camille Lady Barnett, on Wednesday, September 18, ushering a new generation of leadership ahead of this year’s Red Ribbon Ball. The Bahamas AIDS Foundation aims to raise at least $150,000 towards its efforts to fight against HIV/ AIDS. “My goal as president is to continue supporting the work already established while adapting to address current needs, with a specific focus on underserved communities and those at the highest risk of contraction,” said Strachan.

“We join partner organizations in the HIV/AIDS response to build capacity as we work together to meet our ambitious goals.” The Red Ribbon Ball provides the lion’s share of funds for The Bahamas AIDS Foundation (TBAF) annually, which enables the NGO to continue outreach efforts. “This year we host the ball under the theme Diamonds & Pearls,” said Strachan.

“In the world of gemstones, diamonds and pearls symbolize exceptional beauty and luxury. Just as diamonds are formed under intense pressure and pearls emerge from small irritants, our work in the fight against HIV/AIDS mirrors this transformative process. From challenging circumstances, we witness the remarkable resilience of the human spirit and hope.

” This year’s 28th Annual Red Ribbon Ball celebrates the brilliance of those who are thriving despite their battles. TBAF honors advanced treatments, celebrates survival, and memorializes those who have passed away, all while striving for a future free from HIV/AIDS. Join TBAF on Saturday, November 2nd, at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Grand Ballroom for an evening of Diamonds & Pearls.
