Ndzilo Fire Solution has been named the South African representative at the 2024 Red Bull Basement World Final. It is set to take place in Tokyo in December, with competitors from over 40 countries set to showcase their ideas too. Ndzilo Fire Solution’s idea leverages AI to create a sensor that detects possible wild fires.

In August this year , applications for the 2024 edition of the Red Bull Basement competition opened up for local innovators. A few months later, and now the South African winner has been announced in the form of Ndzilo Fire Solutions (pictured above). They will represent South Africa on the global stage at the Red Bull Basement World Final in Tokyo, Japan, where they will also be competing against bright young minds from over 40 countries.



“The South African finalists will now join other national winners in Tokyo, where they will receive mentorship, engage in AI-focused workshops, and pitch their ideas to an elite panel of global judges, venture capitalists and industry leaders. The global winning team will be awarded a three-week experience in Silicon Valley and Los Angeles in 2025, gaining exclusive mentorship and networking opportunities,” explained Red Bull. Ndzilo Fire Solutions presented a concept that leverages AI technology to create a sensor that detects possible wild fires, which impressed the local judges with its innovation, potential impact, and technical feasibility.
