Wednesday, July 17, 2024 The 18th Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, will be held on Al Marjan Island on February 1, 2025. Under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the 18th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon is set to take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The event will be held on Al Marjan Island and is organized by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA).

The Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon is a much-anticipated event that draws both community runners and elite athletes from around the world. In addition to the 21.1km half marathon, the event will feature races of 10km, 5km, and 2km, catering to participants of all ages and skill levels.



Raki Phillips, Chief Executive Officer, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: “We are excited to announce the return of one of the most highly anticipated global sporting events in the Nature Emirate for the 18th year. The race never fails to produce world-class champions and we look forward once again to welcoming back an incredible line-up of elite athletes, sporting enthusiasts and tourists from across the globe”. The registration process is now open, and participants can benefit from the event’s early registration promotion.

By securing their places on the start line before September 30, runners can enjoy special entry fees. The early registration fee for the Half Marathon is USD 50, while the 10km, 5km, and 2km Road Races are priced at USD 30, USD 20, and USD 10, respectively. “With six months to go, we are pleased to be able to launch an early registration promotion for those runners who want to secure their places in the race of their choice,” said Peter Connerton , Managing Director of Pace Events and Race Director of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon.

“The running community will have over three months to take advantage of the Early Registration Promotion before prices revert on October 1, and we look forward to welcoming early registrations from regular runners as well as from those keen to test themselves for the first time on the fast and flat roads of Al Marjan Island.” In February, Kenya’s Daniel Mateiko and Ethiopia’s Tsigie Gebreselama clinched the men’s and women’s titles at the 2024 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon. This race currently holds the top spot in World Athletics’ Competition Performance Rankings for half marathons held worldwide in 2024.

Competing for the third time in Ras Al Khaimah, Mateiko crossed the finish line in 58:45, five seconds ahead of fellow Kenyan John Korir , with another Kenyan, Isaia Lasoi , taking third place. In the women’s 21.1km race, Gebreselama shattered her personal best by over 30 seconds, finishing in 65:14.

She was followed by the 2020 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon champion, Ababel Yeshaneh, also from Ethiopia. Tanzania’s Jacklin Sakilu secured a surprising third place, beating her personal best by more than three minutes..
