An Elizabethan manor house hotel on the edge of the Cotswolds is opening its doors for free tours of its 16th century building. The Greenway Hotel and Spa on Shurdington Road, Cheltenham, is hosting an open day on Sunday, September 15 between 1pm and 4pm. Guests will be treated to guided tours of some of the hotel’s 21 luxurious and individually-styled bedrooms, which blend the hotel’s rural setting with historic period features such as original stone windows and roaring fireplaces.

Talented wedding and events pianist, Joe Pike, will also be sharing his relaxed, melodic take on contemporary music throughout the day, while those of a competitive nature can try their hand at garden games in the venue’s eight acres of countryside grounds. Chefs behind the venue’s 3 AA rosette Garden Room restaurant will be sharing some of their favourite BBQ recipes for guests to try at a small charge - featuring bao buns, prawn ramen, BBQ lamb gyros, curried paneer gyros and flame grilled beef burgers. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of mini treatments at the hotel’s award-winning Elan Spa.

Mark Chambers is the managing director of the Eden Hotel Collection, which includes the Greenway Hotel and Spa, The Arden Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, Mallory Court Hotel and Spa in Leamington, Brockencote Hall Hotel in Kidderminster, and Bovey Castle in Devon. He said: “Although the Greenway Hotel and Spa welcomes guests from far and wide all year round, the hotel is also here to serve the local community – whether that is for a bite to eat in its restaurants, or to use its swimming pool and gym, and this open day underlines this. “Those attending on the day will be able to sample the Greenway Hotel and Spa’s wide-ranging appeal – whether it is for a romantic weekend away, fine dining for a family celebration, meeting up with friends, or small meeting spaces – guests will be able to experience a dose of luxury.

This will also be the first time the hotel has hosted an open day since the £1.4 million refurbishment of its bedrooms and the communal spaces at the hotel, so we’d encourage as many people as possible to book a slot for a show around. “It is a great opportunity for visitors to enjoy the tail end of summer in style, and we are looking forward to welcoming everybody for a memorable afternoon.

” Guests wishing to attend the open day for free are advised to book in advance by calling 01242 862352..
