A BRIGHT peacock-themed archway greets shoppers at the entrance of Bukit Jambul Complex (KBJ) in Bayan Lepas, Penang, to mark Deepavali celebrations at the mall. Inside, decorations in myriad colours and sizes create a festive feel. The mall’s visitors will also be greeted by the sight of a vibrant rangoli, symbolising the colours of happiness, success and health.
Rangoli, which means “an array of colours” in Sanskrit, is a traditional Indian art form where patterns are created from coloured rice flour on a flat surface, such as the floor. A rangoli lighting-up ceremony held to kick off the mall’s Deepavali celebration was led by Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan, KBJ chairman Datuk KH Chan, general manager Crystal Wong and KBJ’s joint management body committee members Lok Chin Lum and Khaw You Yee.
KBJ senior public relations executive Aswirna Sukur said shoppers could immerse themselves in joyful activities tailored for the whole family at the complex.
