Ludhiana: With Raksha Bandhan approaching, the market is bustling with a wide array of designer rakhis , from traditional ones with Om symbol to resin rakhis, and threads for brothers and even sister-in-laws. The festival to be celebrated on August 19 this year commemorates the everlasting bonds between siblings. The shopowners have displayed a variety of rakhis with symbols, including om, swastika, rudraksha, in silk threads, beads, sequins, fabric.

Talking to TOI, one of the shopowners, Vaneet Batra, said: “Traditional rakhis are normally available in vibrant hues and are ideal for people who would love to embrace the cultural tradition of Raksha Bandhan.” Meanwhile, resin rakhis have gained much popularity over traditional Rakhis as they generally last longer and have a multitude of designs to choose from.
