The tourism industry in Rajasthan is urging the government to ease regulations to fully implement industry-status benefits, establish a specialized policy for hotel operations, and create a dedicated tourism board. These suggestions are aimed at making the state’s new tourism policy more comprehensive and effective in addressing sectoral needs.

Insiders from the tourism department revealed that the upcoming policy is set to tackle several long-standing challenges. Key issues under consideration include streamlining industry-status benefits, simplifying hotel and restaurant licensing processes, obtaining fire safety NOCs, and easing government land allotments. Other proposals include relaxing land conversion norms, revising motor vehicle taxes for luxury coaches, and addressing bar licensing and hotel operating requirements.



Tourism expert Sanjay Kaushik highlighted that the inclusion of new provisions in the policy marks a significant update after years of stagnation. He expressed optimism that these changes would encourage fresh investments and the development of innovative projects, fostering growth in the sector. The state government has recently shared a draft version of the new tourism policy, seeking feedback from industry stakeholders.
