From playing the gentle poet in Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye to living the role of a psychopath in Rudhiram, this is the most talented in this country. Now, in an exclusive chat with Zoom, Raj reveals playing the evil character of a psychopath.

Read excerpts here: In director Jisho Lon Antony’s Rudhiram you play the most evil character I’ve seen in Indian cinema. I consider myself really lucky to be working in cinemas. I have never dreamed to be here.



There is nothing more cinema can give me than the kick it gives when trying to achieve something new. That is the reason I gravitate towards stories which are new. Was it difficult for you to get into your diabolic character Mathew’s headspace? No, it wasn't.

I really feel every human being even the most evil of man has something similar to other normal human beings. His reaction towards a situation makes him the beast among the lot.So I can understand why the character behaves in a way.

Are you justifying the character’s vile deeds? I don't justify it in any way. He is a pure villain and evil in my eyes. Did you build a backstory for the character in your mind? Yes.

Every time he spoke to a patient who was a woman and had a child,he saw his mother. He becomes emotional when he sees a mother and a child. Maybe it reminds him of his childhood.
