Horse Racing Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. TWO years and nine days after he saddled up his first runner as a trainer, former jockey Jake Hull heads to Quirindi on Monday where he takes the wrapping off that horses’ little sister, Rubinsky .

Hull’s first runner came at Warwick Farm four days after Giga Kick’s Everest win in October, 2022. The horse, named Rejinsky , was beaten two lengths in the 1000m Benchmark 72 by Way To The Stars who subsequently beat Giga Kick home in the most recent running of the Concorde Stakes. “Rejinsky could have been a very handy horse,’’ Hull said.

“He won three races in very good style. He broke the track record at Taree and won by the length of the straight one day. “He just had a lot of problems.

“If Rubinsky has got her brother’s ability she will definitely win races.’’ A daughter of Rubick, Rubinsky, has looked the part in two trials in the Hunter Valley region of late. “We have tried to give her a couple of little educational trials,’’ Hull said.

“Her first trial at Newcastle, she jumped and showed good speed and probably just knocked up. “There was good improvement in her second trial. Robbie Downey liked her.

He said he gave him a really good feel. He said in that trial she wasn’t at top gear obviously, he just tried to nurse her along and he said she had plenty left to give. “So we will get the acid test to her on Monday and get her in.
