The Metropolitan Opera is set to revive Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in Bartlett Sher’s production. The opera will showcase two different casts. In the fall season, Quinn Kelsey reprises his devastating portrayal of the title court jester.

operaWire noted, “Note for note, moment for moment, this without any doubt in my mind is the most compelling Rigoletto that I’ve heard at the Met in a decade.” Stephen Costello and Nadine Sierra join Kelsey alongside J’Nai Bridges, Soloman Howard, and Ante Jerkunica. Maestro Pier Giorgio Morandi conducts.



In January, superstar Baritone Luca Salsi takes on the title role alongside Pene Pati and Erin Morley. Rihab Chaieb makes her Met role debut as Maddalena, with Howard as Sparafucile. Baritone Michael Chioldi sings the title role on Jan.

24, and Maurizio Benini conducts. The Sept. 30, Oct.

23, Nov. 1, and Jan. 11 performances will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app.

The Jan. 11 performance will also be rebroadcast over The Robert K. Johnson Foundation–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.

“Rigoletto” runs from Sept. 30 through Jan. 24, 2024.
