Queen Mary and King Frederik of Denmark have made their presence known at the Olympic Games, sharing a casual snap from the stands. The Australian-born Queen posed against the background of the Eiffel Tower with her husband smiling, with Mary wearing a bright red blouse with white pants and Frederik wearing a blue suit and white shirt – together displaying the colours of the French flag.  "Friendship, solidarity and fair play are the foundations of the Olympic spirit, which in the coming weeks gather nations from across the globe for the world's largest sporting and sporting event," they wrote in the caption of the post.

"We are now ready at the Seine for the big opening ceremony, where in a little while we will wish our Danish athletes all possible good luck at the Olympic Games in Paris." The couple arrived in France two days ago, returning to public life after a short holiday.

Before the opening ceremony, it was revealed that Mary was facing quite the loyalty test as she snuck away to greet Aussie athletes.

In photos shared by the Australian Olympic Team's official Instagram account, Mary was seen posing with members of the Australian delegation in the village. "Royalty in the Village! Australian-born Queen Mary of Denmark joined athletes in the Olympic Village," read the caption.
