This growth firmly positions Qatar as a leading destination on the global tourism map.
Visitor demographics reveal that 41% of arrivals were GCC nationals, while 59% came from international markets. Key source countries, including Saudi Arabia, India, the UK, Germany, and the USA, contributed significantly to this growth. Qatar not only surpassed its visitor target of 4.
79 million but also exceeded its accommodation goals, selling close to 10 million room nights against an 8.8 million projection. Transportation data from 2024 highlights 56% of tourists arriving by air, 37% by land, and 7% by sea.
The hospitality sector now features over 40,000 hotel keys, reflecting Qatar’s readiness to cater to its growing tourist influx. The year’s peak travel seasons included the opening and closing months of 2024. The AFC Asian Cup in January set the tone for a strong start, while the year ended with standout events such as the 2024/2025 cruise season, the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, and a surge in visitors from Saudi Arabia during November’s school holidays.
