Monday, January 20, 2025 Qantas has announced the introduction of direct flights between Sydney and Sapporo, opening up new opportunities for travelers seeking Japan’s world-class snow destinations. The flights, set to operate from December 15, 2025, to March 28, 2026, will provide Australian travelers with a convenient way to experience Hokkaido’s famed winter landscapes and cultural attractions. This seasonal service also marks a significant milestone for Qantas, making Sapporo its 100th destination worldwide.

These flights will be operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, a model known for its traveler-friendly 2-4-2 economy seating configuration. With expectations to carry 20,000 passengers during the northern hemisphere’s ski season, Qantas aims to meet the growing demand for seamless travel to Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido. Travelers will no longer need to endure lengthy layovers when heading to Sapporo.

The non-stop service will significantly cut travel times, making it possible for passengers to arrive at iconic ski resorts like Niseko, Furano, Rusutsu, or Kiroro the same day they leave Sydney. The return journey is equally convenient, allowing travelers to hit the slopes in the morning before catching an evening flight back to Australia. This enhanced accessibility is a game changer, not only for ski enthusiasts but for any traveler looking to explore Hokkaido’s unique offerings.

Sapporo, located on the island of Hokkaido, is a dream destination for snow .
