Pune: Employees of a private hospital in Chakan foiled a burglary attempt by a person at a private gold loan firm on Sunday. The accused was digging a hole near wall behind the shop when hospital staffers noticed it and nabbed him. The police have identified the suspect as Hrishikesh Shinde(21), currently residing at Nanekarwadi in Chakan, but hailed from Nanded.

An official from the firm has filed a complaint against the man with the Chakan police. An officer from the Chakan police said the incident came to light around 3am when a few employees from the neighbouring private hospital noticed the suspect behind the firm's office. "The employees, along with the driver of an ambulance, nabbed the suspect and informed the security personnel of the firm," the officer said.



He said after getting an alert from the security guard, the complainant reached the spot and found that the suspect had dug a hole near the back wall of their office. "The complainant opened the office and found that gold and cash in the office were intact," the officer said. He said the police have registered a case against the suspect under sections 305 (theft) and 331 (4) (theft in a dwelling house after sunset) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
