The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras and showed the victim, Sukhchain Singh, a US-based NRI who recently returned to his native Daburji village on the outskirts of Punjab’s Amritsar city, being forced inside his home at gunpoint by the two assailants.

Giving details, a senior police officer said Singh was going for a morning walk when the bike-borne assailants intercepted him outside his house and forced him inside at gunpoint and later shot him in front of his family members, including his wife and his two children from his first marriage.

The horrific episode was captured on CCTV cameras installed at Sukchain’s house, showing the victim’s family, including his children, begging the attackers to let him go. Police said they have obtained CCTV footage of the attack and launched an investigation. The victim’s second wife has accused his ex-wife’s family of orchestrating the attack and lodged an FIR against five people, all family members of Singh’s first wife.
