KOCHI: There will be a police investigation on the financial source of Sunil Kumar alias Pulsar Suni, released after the trial court granted him bail in the actor assault case. This is after Suni was seen traveling in luxury vehicles and using expensive products after being released from jail. The secret intelligence service had reported that Suni was seen wearing sandals of Rs 7,000 and a shirt of Rs 4,000 when he appeared in the court before being released on bail.
The investigation team is examining whether anyone is trying to influence Suni as the trial of the case is nearing its final stage, and whether he will answer in favor of anyone when the court asks direct questions. Suni was interrogated in the trial court yesterday. Suni was granted bail in the last week of September.
Bail was granted with strict conditions. The court has put forward conditions such as that he should not leave Ernakulam, should not influence witnesses, should not talk to the media, should use only one SIM, should not contact the accused or the witnesses. The court had also directed that the rural police should ensure Suni's security.
There are 10 accused in the actor assault case. Up to eight accused have been charged, including the crime of gang rape, which carries a life sentence. Others have been charged with conspiracy.
