STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — It’s always good news when individuals step to the plate to benefit a Staten Island not-for-profit organization.

No truer words were spoken last week, when the Staten Island Zoo became the recipient of original banner artwork, hand painted and donated by students from PS 25 South Richmond High School Seaview Academy The students painted each banner in order to highlight a different animal and raise awareness about wildlife conservation and care. The students at PS 25 and their teacher, Noreen Cameron, even saw fit to gather at the Zoo on Tuesday, July 16, to unveil the artwork. During the ceremony, Staten Island Zoo Executive Director Ken Mitchell presented a Certificate of Appreciation to acknowledge and thank the students.

“We are grateful to the school and students of PS 25 for their support and beautiful artwork,” said Mitchell. “It is very clear that PS 25 and these students care about the well-being of our animals and love our Zoo.” The banner artwork is being displayed proudly under the Zoo pavilion — visible for all visitors to enjoy.
