From Edinburgh to Leeds to Portsmouth to the United States embassy in London, protesters gathered to say no to Trump . In London, around 50 anti-racists protested outside the US embassy.

On the same night, protests included 70 in Manchester, 60 in Sheffield, 50 in Glasgow and 40 in Leeds. At the London demonstration, Samira Ali, national organiser for Stand Up To Racism, said, “We stand against every rotten thing that Trump represents.” His victory “will embolden every far right figure around the world including those in Britain”.



She said, “We are opposing Nigel Farage who is congratulating Trump and wants to repeat Trump’s success with hard racism and bigotry and a politics of division.” And Samira argued that “the moment Keir Starmer rolls out red carpet for Trump, we will say he’s not welcome”. “We are the anti-racist resistance and will stand up against Trump and the politics he represents,” she said.

Protester Nicky told Socialist Worker, “Trump will roll back the rights of migrants, refugees and people of colour. It’s the same with Palestine, he will support Netanyahu even more.” Nicky argued, “We need to protest and resist.
