Citroen has taken the wraps off their upcoming Basalt SUV and showcased it in its full production guise. Here is everything that you need to know. Citroen will be launching its new Basalt SUV soon and have showcased the vehicle in its full production form.

The Tata Curvv rivalling SUV will take on a new segment of coupe compact SUVs. The sloping roofline is something that is very popular in the luxury segment and is now trickling down to regular cars as well. Citroen aims to launch the Basalt in the first week of August.

Citroen has only showcased the rear of the vehicle. We expect the front to be similar to the C3 Aircross but with some additional features like projector LED headlamps and a different front bumper. The side profile remains to the C3 Aircross till the B-Pillar after which it slopes down into the coupe shape.

The images showcase the dual tone paint scheme of the vehicle but there is no sunroof which could be a big miss in the Indian market. The rear of the vehicle is simple, the taillight clusters don’t seem to be LED but are smart in terms of their design. One can also see the new diamond-cut alloy wheels in the new images.

On the inside, it will stay the same to the C3 Aircross but will have added comfort and features. The 10.25-inch infotainment screen will remain the same but there will also be features like automatic climate control.

The centre armrest has also been changed with space underneath. The C3 Aircross only came with an armrest for the driver seat. Other addition is the rear seat headrest with winglets for side support.

In terms of the engine, the Basalt will come with the same 1.2L turbo petrol unit offered in the C3 Aircross. It will produce 109 bhp and 205 Nm of torque and come paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
