Sunday, August 18, 2024 Experts Urge Nigerian Governors to Prioritize Tourism Development Industry leaders emphasize the untapped potential of tourism in Nigeria and call for increased investment and collaboration. Experts in the tourism industry have called on Nigerian Governors to prioritize the development of the tourism sector, recognizing it as a vital asset to the nation’s economy. Speaking at an event in Abuja, industry leaders stressed the importance of collective efforts to invest in and enhance the tourism sector’s infrastructure and services.

Tourism, a rapidly growing industry worldwide, has been significantly boosted by advancements in travel technology and an increasing culture of leisure travel. However, successive Nigerian governments have yet to fully harness the sector’s potential, missing out on opportunities for economic growth and job creation. At the Abuja event, leaders from various sectors gathered to discuss solutions to these challenges.



A representative of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment between public and private stakeholders to support the tourism industry. The group also unveiled the Executive Tourism MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) initiative, aimed at promoting a new era of partnership between government and private stakeholders to drive tourism development in Nigeria. The call to action reflects a growing recognition of tourism’s potential to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic diversification efforts.
