The small European microstate of Liechtenstein has cause to celebrate as their royal family announces the engagement of their own Princess Marie Caroline. The daughter of Hereditary Prince Alois and Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein, the 28-year-old will soon be getting married to her partner, Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer, 33. Though the palace did not share much detail about how the pair met or how the proposal went, they did share they they both reside in London.

 READ MORE: Crown Princess stepping away from royal duties Marie Caroline was born in Switzerland and later moved to the UK for her education, attending Malvern College in Worcestershire, England and later studying at Parsons School of Design in Paris and New York. She now works in the fashion industry in London. She is not eligible for the throne, as she is a woman and Lichtenstein remains the only European monarchy to operate under agnatic primogeniture rules which exclude women from the line of succession.

The Princely House confirmed the wedding will be taking place in late summer next year, though they have not divulged where. Liechtenstein is the world's fourth-smallest country, with a population of just 40,000. La.
