The Royal Family were delighted by the news of the now- King Charles' and the late Princess Diana's first child but the Princess Royal is said to have not taken the news as well.

Having just travelled home from a visit to New Mexico shortly before the new prince was born, Anne was approached by reporters about William's birth, the Express reports. When asked how she felt about the news of Diana giving birth to her first child at just 20-years-old, Anne responded by saying: "I didn't know she had one". The reports also queried whether Anne believed too much fuss was being made about the new royal baby to which she bluntly replied: "yes".

It was later explained by a palace insider that Anne had been feeling the pressures of her royal engagements at the time which were likely quadrupled by the absence of her brother and sister-in-law as they prepared to become parents. The insider shared: "Anne works very hard and sees her sister-in-law picking up the glory. She's sick to her back teeth with it all.

" Nowadays Prince William, who is a father of three himself, shares a close bond with his aunt Anne, who is the mother of Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall. Previously speaking on Mike Tindall's podcast, the now Prince of Wales shared a story about how Anne would chase after her nephews around Balmoral Castle when they were young boys. Reflecting on some fond childhood memories at the Scottish estate, the 42-year-old said that the Princess Royal was "quite quick" and recalled that the "look that [she] had on [her] face was quite terrifying".

William is also known to have a good relationship with his cousin Zara and her husband Mike Tindall. Former rugby professional Mike previously revealed that his and Zara's children, Mia, Lena and Lucas, are close with William and Kate's three kids - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
