King Charles is reportedly very eager to settle “the Andrew problem” as a new TV show concerning his brother’s controversial relationship with Jeffrey Epstein has been announced The Duke of York, 64, is currently living in the Royal Lodge , a vast and luxurious estate, despite stepping down from royal duties roughly five years ago. Rumours have been swirling that the King wants to move him to more suitable accommodation, as Andrew’s security was recently removed after a Home Office review. His current security is estimated to cost the King £3 million a year, on top of a generous yearly allowance.
Regarding the potential eviction of the Duke from the Royal Lodge, an insider source told The Times : “It is now two years into the King’s reign and he wants the matter settled.” King Charles is reportedly losing patience with Andrew, as he sees “only two possible options” for his brother. The first option would be for Andrew to become financially independent from the King, covering his own security and daily expenses.
However, the Duke of York’s apparent lack of discernible income and small naval pension would make it hard for him to find the amounts that currently fund his lifestyle. The second option, according to sources close to Charles, would be for Andrew to move to “more suitable accommodation”. The King has reportedly been eyeing up Frogmore cottage for his brother , which is conveniently under the security of the broader Windsor estate and was refurbished by its previous royal residents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle , before the couple moved to California .
King Charles would be happy to keep funding his brother's life as well as his former wife's, Sarah, Duchess of York, if Andrew accepts to move to Frogmore. This move comes as a new three-part drama TV series is being released, showcasing Prince Andrew 's infamous Newsnight interview in 2019 in which the disgraced royal tried to explain his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The backlash from the interview made Prince Andrew step back from royal duties just days after airing, although the Duke maintains his complete innocence in the claims made against him.
