A sleepy village nestled away in the countryside near Coventry has been hailed as the UK's prettiest. Inkberrow is also famed for its connection to the long-running Radio 4 soap, The Archers, which is set in the fictional village of Ambridge. According to its creators, the town was designed with Inkberrow in mind.

You don't have to be there long before you can see why writers would try to capture its quintessentially British charm . It's not hard to see why the writers chose this dreamy spot. Surrounded by beautiful countryside walks, parish churches and a mock Tudor pub, it's the kind of place you'd drive past and see yourself living out your life in a state of bliss.

But despite its charm, there aren't many people living there. According to the 2021 Census, in 2020, there were only 2,300 villagers. In the 1960s, it was earmarked as the perfect spot for a new town to built, part of massive plans to build up huge swathes of the UK after the war.

Thankfully, the scheme flopped - leaving behind this stunning little village. What's Inkberrow like if you're looking to buy a house there? For people looking to settle in Inkberrow, there's plenty to attract them. It sits close to the A422 between Stratford-upon-Avon and Worcester, making it easy to get into work in the larger towns.

Being so rural, you might've expected a cheaper price, but the average price there over the past 12 months is actually £474,778, however people who live there insist it's worth it. Inkberrow has loads to offer, including a local primary, Inkberrow Primary School, which is part of an academy trust. Its last Ofsted inspection awarded it with its "outstanding" rating.

The Old Bull is the centre of most of village life, and is so well regarded it's believed to be the inspiration behind The Bull in The Archers. And just outside the confines of the village are the remains of an old castle and an old nunnery from the 13th Century. Though a small village, there is no shortage of delicious food on offer.

For example, the Oak at Upton Snodsbury has earned itself a Travellers Choice Award from TripAdvisor. It also has an award-winning village shop called The Forge, which opens from 7am to 8pm each day. There is also a GP, a Post Office, village hall and a set of allotments - what more could you need? There are also plenty of clubs and associations for people to get stuck in to community life at.

Among those listed on the local parish council website are badminton, bowls, running and the Women's Institute. John Charnock, CEO of StressFreeCarRental.com, said: "The UK has some of the prettiest and quaint villages in the world, and motorists should seriously consider making a pit stop through some of these gorgeous destinations as they head out this bank holiday.

Over 14 million drivers are expected to hit the roads, so making a detour to stretch your legs and get some fresh air after being stuck in traffic for hours is a good idea. Rather than stopping over in a service station, make the most out of your road trip and have a stroll around some of the most beautiful villages the UK has to offer.".
