Pune: IPS officer Rajendra Dahale, director of Maharashtra Intelligence Academy , Pune, and assistant commissioner of police Satish Govekar from the crime branch of the city police were named for the President’s Police Medal on the eve of Independence Day on Wednesday. Assistant sub-inspectors Prakash Waghmare and Anil Kale posted at the Pune Rural police’s local crime branch and headquarters were also named for the President’s Police Medal. Nine police personnel from the rural police posted in Naxalite areas were also named for the special service medal.
Nitin Waychal, principal of Daulatrao Jadhav Jail Officers’ Training Institute in Yerawada, has been named for President Medal for meritorious service. Twenty-seven police personnel from Pimpri Chinchwad police, including senior inspectors Mahesh Bansode and Tejaswini Kadam, have been awarded with the special service medal. They have been awarded with the medals for rendering their services in Naxal-affected areas.

Fire director to get Presidents medal The Government of India awarded Nitin V Raiker, director of fire and emergency services, the President Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service. Raiker, with a distinguished 33-year career, held multiple posts and led various rescue operations including the Gujarat earthquake relief. The medal will be presented on Independence Day.
Four Goans to get service medals today Four Goans were among 1,037 personnel awarded service medals on Independence Day. South Goa SP Sunita Sawant and NCT of Delhi IG Atmaram Deshpande received the Presidents Medal for distinguished service.
