David Pekoske, the Administrator of the Transport Security Administration ( TSA ), has informed his staff that the now-inaugurated United States President told him to step down from his role with immediate effect. Ending a seven-year stint Pekoske, who began serving as the Administrator of the TSA in 2017, has been told to step down by the inaugurated Trump administration with immediate effect, CNN reported, citing four sources familiar with the matter. The outlet added that Pekoske was told to leave his post with immediate effect, ending his seven-year stint at the helm of the TSA.

Donald Trump, the President of the US, picked the official to serve as the head of the government agency in August 2017, with his successor, Joe Bidden, extending his tenure at the TSA in September 2022. At the time, following the US Senate’s approval of the appointment, Pekoske said that it was a privilege to continue serving the American people alongside dedicated and highly skilled professionals. “I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure our nation’s transportation system remains secure and facilitates the movement of people and cargo.



” Pekoske, a former US Coast Guard (USCGA) official, had led a workforce of over 60,000 employees across 440 airports during his tenure at the TSA, according to the government agency. December 1st was the busiest day of 2024 so far for air travel. Incoming changes Pekoske is not the only aviation-related official who has either resigned or been forced .
