One goal down, two more to go for Green Canyon’s girls tennis program. The Wolves will head into next week’s Region 11 Tournament with plenty of momentum after sweeping Bear River and Mountain Crest this week. Green Canyon went 12-0 in region duals, in the process, this season — the fifth straight year the program hasn’t lost any region duals.

"We are so impressed and happy for our girls tennis team," said GC head coach Camille Jeppson, whose talented squad only lost three matches in those 12 duals. "They capped off a perfect 12-0 season this year and, more importantly, played with a lot of confidence and composure. There were very high expectations for us this year.

It can be challenging when your competition has scouted you out and focuses on beating you each time you have a match. Within our team, there is a lot of competition. It can be difficult to maintain a sense of cohesion and support when you are competing against each other.

We have been so impressed with how these girls have responded to this throughout the season and shown support for each other. They are an amazing group.” It was Senior Day on Tuesday in North Logan and Green Canyon only dropped one game in four of its five varsity matches against Bear River (2-10 in region).

The Bears put up a solid fight in first doubles before falling 6-2, 6-4. The Wolves played arguably even better Thursday in Hyrum as they only lost a trio of games in 10 sets against the Mustangs (5-7 region). Green Canyon used it.
