MILLVILLE — It was the kind of performance Richard Alexander was hoping to see from his Riverhawks to kick off the second-to-last week of the regular season. Ridgeline capitalized on a couple of really nice counter attacks and crosses en route to a dominant 5-0 victory over Sky View in a Region 11 girls soccer match on Tuesday evening. The Riverhawks swept their regular season series with the Bobcats, in the process.
“This is our top performance, I would say the most well rounded,” said Alexander, who is Ridgeline’s head coach. “This has definitely been our top performance (of the season). We’ve adjusted how we play and we’ve changed tactics and have had some trainings with the new tactics.
And we are going to continue on with this.” Not only were the Riverhawks (9-4, 6-3 region) relentless and well connected in the attack, they played lights out defensively as they limited the Bobcats (4-10, 4-5) to only one shot on goal — a strike from distance by Bella Hall early in the first half. Ridgeline received some bad news a couple of weeks ago as multi-year starting center back Kenley Parkinson suffered a season-ending injury late in her side’s first showdown against Sky View.
