When: 7 p.m. Friday Where: Alamodome, San Antonio Records: UNT 5-4, 2-3 American Athletic Conference; UTSA 4-5, 2-3 American Athletic Conference Last game: Army 14, UNT 3; UTSA 44, Memphis 36 Last matchup: UTSA 37, UNT 29 (2023) TV: ESPN2 Radio: Mean Green Sports Network Both North Texas and UTSA will have a lot on the line when the teams meet in a rare Friday night game in San Antonio.

That's typically the case in what has developed into the best rivalry for the UNT football program, and arguably Mean Green athletics as a whole. UNT and UTSA have played a host of crucial games in recent years. The Roadrunners beat the Mean Green in the 2022 Conference USA title game, won last season in Denton and hold a 7-5 edge in the series.

UNT heads into this year’s game looking to snap a three-game slide. The Mean Green looked like they would cruise to becoming bowl eligible after starting 5-1. They haven’t won since.

UNT needs just one more win to secure a postseason bid and is still in good position with a game at Temple looming at the end of the season. The Owls have struggled all year. Even though that is the case, UNT’s opportunities are dwindling.

A fourth straight loss would be tough for UNT to stomach. The Mean Green have also lost three straight to UTSA. The Roadrunners are in an even tighter spot than UNT at 4-5.

UTSA needs to win two of its last three to become bowl eligible. UNT heads into its game at UTSA off one of its worst offensive performances in recent memory. T.
