A POSH hotel in Scotland was caught using an alcohol licence that was registered under the name of its previous owner who died four years ago. Greywalls Hotel, in East Lothian, was previously owned by Giles Weaver alongside his wife Ros. 1 Greywalls Hotel in East Lothian is located near to Muirfield Golf Course in Gullane But he tragically passed away just weeks before the coronavirus lockdown was imposed in February 2020.
His family have been running the luxury hotel since his death , but were completely unaware that they had been serving alcohol without a valid licence over the last four years. No one in the family knew that the premises licence was in Mr Weaver's name until it was flagged by licensing chiefs earlier this month. It came to light after East Lothian's licensing standards officer visited the hotel to inform them that the licence wasn't valid.

Mr Weaver's son-in-law Dr Dominic Hoar said the family were "appalled" when they found out, according to Edinburgh Live. Speaking at an East Lothian Licensing Board meeting, he explained that it was an oversight by the family who were also grieving Mr Weaver's death.
