Porsche-owned tuning house Manthey-Racing has unveiled what could be the hottest warranty-backed 911 GT3 RS yet, complete with enough downforce to exceed some dual-cab utes’ payload capacity. If you haven’t heard of Manthey-Racing, it is to Porsche what AMG is to Mercedes or M is to BMW, even if its performance upgrades are technically made after the car is already built rather than as it rolls down the production line. The simply named Manthey Kit is now available for the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS , adding a host of even more aggressive track-focused upgrades to the rear-engined supercar.

This includes a large front splitter (complete with reinforcing bars to hold it to the bumper), diveplanes, Gurney flaps on the wheel-arch vents and a striking ‘shark fin’, inspired by Porsche’s championship-winning 963 prototype racer. Manthey’s fin replaces the rear window with a carbon-fibre panel, said to be 25 per cent lighter than the original glass, while the fin itself is designed to increase stability in high-speed corners. Combined with a revised rear wing and ‘aerodisc’ rear wheel covers, Manthey claims to have increased the 911 GT3 RS’s downforce without adding drag.

All up, Manthey claims that at 285km/h the kit-equipped GT3 RS generates 1000kg of downforce, about 16 per cent more than ‘standard’ versions of the car –.
