EXCLUSIVE Porsche driver left red-faced after getting his £30,000 pride and joy stuck in 'undignified position' at luxury car show By Emily Jane Davies Published: 20:26, 15 September 2024 | Updated: 20:29, 15 September 2024 e-mail View comments Car fanatics who journeyed to the quaint village of Castle Hedingham in Essex for the much-anticipated 'Porsche Classics at the Castle' event may have seen one of the vehicles parked at a jaunty and 'undignified' angle. For an unlucky Porsche driver was left red-faced today after getting his blue 911 997 Carrera S - of which the recent models are priced from £99,800 - stuck nose-down on a small hill at the event. The car is believed to be around 10 years old, likely valued between £30-80,000.

It was left there for about an hour until it was pulled out of the ditch by rope in an effort to preserve the car, after the idea of hunting down a tractor to tug it away was discounted. 'There was this chap in his 50s who apparently drove into the grounds.

'He wasn't directed particularly well it seems! And while he was looking left and right, trying to work out where to park, he didn't realise there was a rather large slope in front of him. 'So obviously the car has gone over it. He was unhurt, very very embarrassed and the car sat there for hours with lots and lots of people looking at it and commenting on it.

'It was a source of much amusement. A £30-40,000 Porsche ended up being in a rather undignified position in the middle of an event designed to celebrate Porsches. 'It was there a while - we were there for about an hour.

In the end they had to get some rope to pull it out in a woke effort to preserve it I think. 'There were loads of people looking at it and taking photos.

Everyone wanted to know if the driver was okay. He'd just driven over the bump at 5mph. But I think the only thing hurt was his pride.

'There was a mix of amusement and astonishment from those looking at it.' The event posting on the website reads: 'Roll up into the Park to join a display of all Porsche model types in Hedingham Castle's famous Deer Park and be part of one of the UK's largest arrays of water-cooled Porsches. 'Whether you drive a transaxle, Taycan, Panamera, SUV, Boxster, Caymann or water-cooled 911, everyone is welcome at Classics at the Castle 2024! 'In an exciting change from previous editions, this year's Classics at the Castle will be a celebration of all air-cooled Porsches, with a special display planned for the 50th anniversary of the 911 Turbo.

'Join us at this stunning venue that will be hosting an array of some of the best classic Porsches and special celebration displays against a magical backdrop.' Tickets for the event were priced at £20 per person for Porsche Club GB members or £25 per person for non-members, with free entry for children aged 16 and under.
