Sunny Hernandez | [email protected] Upstate New York’s ever popular Watkins Glen Gorge Trail until further notice due to the remnants of tropical storm Debby moving through the area. The New York State Park system has announced that the trail is closed for now, due to high rains, thunder, and potential flash floods.

Watkins Glen State Park ’s Gorge Trail is two miles of waterfall after waterfall with gigantic cliffs and deep gorges. In the summer, visitors come by the busload to take in its beauty. The trail can be slippery on a good day, but over three inches of rain have fallen already and more is in store.

Watkins Glen, at the southern end of Seneca Lake is just over a half hour east from Bath, NY. Bath, along with South Canisteo, Woodhull, Addison and more are in an area of Steuben County which has been largely evacuated due to flash flooding. This comes just says after New York officially set the record for most tornados in a year after a tornado ripped through Buffalo on August 5.
