Lookout El Pollo Loco , because there’s another big bird in the yard as popular Guatemalan-born chicken restaurant Pollo Campero continues its expansion in California with a new location in Bellflower. The new restaurant held its grand opening Sept. 25 at 9045 Rosecrans Blvd.

, in Bellflower, marking the growing chain’s first location in the city and its 27th restaurant in California. Launched in Guatemala in 1971, Pollo Campero quickly became wildly popular throughout Central America with many travelers even bringing its chicken in boxes to relatives in the U.S.



during visits before the chain opened its first location in Los Angeles in 2002. The chain is known for fried and grilled chicken made from family recipes along with chicken sandwiches, empanadas and Central American inspired side dishes like sweet plantains and yuca fries and desserts like flan. The chain also serves drinks like horchatas and aguas frescas.

Other local Pollo Campero spots include restaurants in Burbank, Covina, San Bernardino, Jurupa Valley and Santa Ana. The new restaurant will be open daily from 9 a.m.
