Pune/ Mumbai: Shiv Sena minister Deepak Kesarkar backed Ajit Pawar ’s statement that he should not have mixed politics and family ties on Tuesday. “Politics is politics and family is family. We should not mix them.

As a brother, it’s his duty to go and celebrate Rakshabandhan. As a political leader, he will be on the forefront for Mahayuti for winning the next election,” he said. It was a high-octane battle fiercely fought by two factions of the NCP with the Pawar clan taking sides for the Lok Sabha election.



Supriya retained her seat by defeating Sunetra by a margin of over 1.55 lakh votes. Sunetra later became NCP’s Rajya Sabha member in July.

While campaigning for Sunetra, Ajit Pawar’s family was isolated when the rest of the Pawar family sided with Supriya and her father NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar. Ajit Pawar’s brother Shrinivas Pawar and his family actively campaigned for Supriya and at times Shriniwas was critical of his brother for splitting the party and falling out with Sharad Pawar. When TOI contacted Supriya Sule, she said, “I was busy with our party’s Shiv Swarajya rally in Solapur the whole day and have not had the time to go through his (Ajit Pawar’s) statement.
