Colchester residents were probably rather surprised when a police officer delivered their takeaway pizza yesterday evening (September 25). Shortly before, Colchester's community policing team stopped a vehicle which was shown as having no insurance. Upon speaking to the driver, police realised that they were working as a delivery driver and were on a food delivery.

One of the officers waited for the recovery truck to collect the seized uninsured car. The other officer delivered the order to the resident while it was still hot, and the person still got their takeaway on time. The officers have also sent the necessary paperwork through so the driver of the uninsured car can explain their decision to drive without insurance to the courts.
