Pokémon TCG Pocket has launched a new event this morning: the Lapras EX Drop Event. In this event, players can challenge various Lapras decks with a chance to win the highly coveted Lapras EX promo card. You can find the event under "Solo Battles," where there are four tiers of Lapras battles.
Each tier offers unique rewards, such as one-time bonuses like timers for collecting packs, along with promo packs that can be won repeatedly. When you win a promo pack, it goes into your gift box, giving you a random promo card. This could include anything from an exclusive Butterfree with unique artwork to the rare Lapras EX.
The Lapras EX card is fairly powerful. It’s a basic EX Pokémon, which means it can be played immediately without an evolution stage, similar to Pikachu or Zapdos. Lapras' attack deals 80 damage and heals itself for 20, and with 140 HP, it’s quite resilient.
However, the attack requires three energy, so it takes time to set up—unless you use support from a card like Misty. You can face Lapras multiple times for promo packs, though it’s random whether you’ll receive one. There's also a limit, as each battle requires special event stamina.
Lapras isn’t easy to defeat; its decks contain powerful cards that can knock you out quickly. We recommend bringing quick, high-damage cards like Pikachu EX and Zapdos EX, which counter Lapras’ lightning weakness and can knock it out before it builds up power. Electross is also a great, budget-friendly alternativ.
