Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has directed the concessionaire of the 23km Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro line to draw up a detailed micro-plan to accelerate the progress of the project in view of only 68% of its work completed ahead of the March 2025 deadline, senior PMRDA officials told TOI on Wednesday. The move aims at addressing the current delay in the project’s progress and keep it on track for the scheduled completion date. “We’ve asked for a timeline to complete the remaining work.

The current pace is concerning and the micro-plan will entail the works in the coming seven months,” the PMRDA official said. With the assembly elections around the corner, PMRDA is ensuring that all the timelines are adhered to avoid further delays. “Around 88% of the total work should have been completed by now.

So, the ‘catch up’ plan has to be readied by the concessionaire,” the official said. A key component of the Metro line, the integrated flyover from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk to E-Square junction, is expected to be completed by Nov-end, for which the earlier deadline was Aug 15. Unlike the other two Metro lines that opened to the public in phases, the Metro line 3 is to be opened to the public from April 2025 amid increasing demand from commuters.
